Aspect of the Lich

Lich.jpg

Once fine robes hang in tatters from this withered corpse’s frame. A pale blue light shines from where its eyes should be.

Aspect Form:

When a Deathless takes on their Lich Aspect Form, they look almost indistinguishable from a normal Lich, save for the fact their eyes glow an unearthly green rather than the normal Lich blue. While in this form the Deathless has Damage Resistance (see below) as well as access to special abilities (again, see below). Additionally, when in their Lich Aspect Form, the first time they cast each different spell they have memorised, it does not count as having been cast as far as daily allowance is concerned. When in this form the Lich-Aspected Deathless causes Fear (as per the spell) to those who look upon it (this is an innate, constant passive effect).

Aspect Damage Resistance: DR 10 / Cold Iron

Aspect Ability:
Whenever you are in your Aspect Form you can use this ability

Potent Spell Caster (Su)
A Lich-Aspected Deathless can choose 3 spells + Tier (min 4) which gain the Maximised Spell feat attached to them for free. In addition, the maximised spell is cast at its actual spell level with no need to sacrifice a spell-slot three levels higher (as per the normal feat). These maximised cost 1 Deathless point to cost while in Mortal Form, and no Deathless points when in Aspect Form.

Great Curse:Lich-Aspected Deathless constantly crave magic: using it, being around it, mastering it. This obsession has its effect on their bodies, which (regardless of form) slowly deteriorates unless fed with magic. To stop the constant degeneration, the Lich Deathless must be healed via negative energy once per day. If they cannot have these spells cast upon them, the Lich Deathless can sacrifice one of his memorised first-level spells to have the same effect. Failure to do this means their skin starts to full off their bones (both Forms), and they suffer a -1 penalty to all rolls until they can douse themselves in magic.

2ndTier Physical Alteration: The Deathless character’s hair completely falls out, starting with the head and within a day all body hair. The character suffers a -1 to Bluff and Diplomacy checks if seen in clear lighting. This alteration can be covered up by simple means such as the Disguise skill.

4th Tier Physical Alteration: The skin of the Lich Deathless begins to lose its colour, becoming a dark grey colour. The character suffers a -1 to Bluff, Diplomacy and Disguise skills, and this increases to -2 when in contact with people who know them. Though they might be able to pass it off as being “unwell”, it cannot be disguised by normal methods, only magical.

8th Tier Physical Alteration: The skin of the Deathless becomes tightly wrapped across bone, giving them a skeletal appearance with sunken eyes, pronounced bone structure and a pallid complexion. The character suffers a -2 to Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, and Handle Animal skills.

Aspect Powers: At 1st tier and every tier thereafter, select one new aspect power from the Lich-Aspect Powers list. Once you select a power, it can’t be changed. Unless otherwise noted, each power can be selected only once. Some abilities have requirements, such as a class ability or minimum Deathless tier, that you must meet before you select them.

1st Tier Lich-Aspect Powers:
You can select these aspect abilities at any tier.

Spell Resistant (Su)
The Deathless gains a SR of 15. If they already have SR, this increase stacks with it while in their Aspect Form. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless points to use.

Spell Deflection (Su)
For the cost of one Deathless point, a Lich Deathless can deflect a damaging spell cast at them so that it reflects harmlessly away from them. The spell still goes off, just does not manage to harm the Deathless. To accomplish this the Deathless must also sacrifice one of his 1st level spells per day. This ability only works on spell cast by a spell caster who is equal caster level or lower than the Lich Deathless. It works on both Arcane and Divine spells, and works in both Aspect and Mortal forms.

Eldritch Breach (Su)
You are adept at breaching magical defences and overcoming resistance to your magic. When attempting a caster level check to dispel an effect, overcome spell resistance, or otherwise determine whether your magic affects a target (such as with knock or neutralize poison), roll twice and take the higher result. Like most Deathless Powers this can only be used in Aspect Form. It is a passive ability and costs no Deathless points to activate.

Supernatural Intelligence (Su)
When the Deathless shifts into their Aspect form their Intelligence Score increases by +4. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless points to activate. This Power can be selected up to 2 times.

Supernatural Wisdom (Su)
When the Deathless shifts into their Aspect form their Wisdom Score increases by +4. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless points to activate. This Power can be selected up to 2 times.

Innate Lich Abilities (Su)
The Lich-Aspect Deathless starts to take on many of the traits of a Lich, including innate spell-casting. The Deathless is able to casts each of the spells once a day as an innate ability, even if they do not belong to a class that can cast spells: 0th—bleed (DC 16), detect magic, ray of frost, read magic, 1st—magic missile, ray of enfeeblement, shield, 2nd—darkness, extended mage armor, false life, scorching ray, see invisibility, spectral hand, 3rd—dispel magic, fireball, suggestion, vampiric touch. The Caster DC for these spells are determined at the Deathless’ total class level. This is a passive ability and cost no Deathless points to activate.

Arcane Armor (Su)
You are protected by an invisible layer of armor made of force. This armor grants you an armor bonus to AC equal to 3 + your tier. This ability is an abjuration effect with a spell level equal to your tier. If this armor is dispelled or otherwise ended, you can reactivate it as a swift action. This is an passive ability and costs no Deathless points to activate.

Resilient Arcana (Su)
Your spells and effects become more difficult to identify and dispel. Add your tier to the DC of any checks to identify your spells, recognize them as they are being cast, or dispel them using dispel magic or similar effects. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless points to activate.

Magical Connection (Su)
The Deathless with this power has a subconscious connection with magic that allows them to recognise spells even if they are not spell-casters. Deathless with the Magical Connection power gain a +5 Bonus to Spellcraft rolls and the Spellcraft Skill becomes a class skill. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless Points to activate.

Resolve (Su)
The Deathless gets a +2 to bonus to Will saves against any abilities originating from Goodly-Aligned casters or spells that have the Good descriptor. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless Points to activate.

The Dead Have Nothing To Fear (Su)
Since the time of their death and rebirth, Deathless look upon life differently and are more difficult to intimidate let alone scare. The Deathless who takes this power gets a +5 bonus to Will saves vs Intimidation or any fear effects. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless Points to activate.

Loathsome (Su)
The Lich-Aspect Deathless is an unnerving looking creature in its Aspect Form, but this one even more so. Their movements become erratic and jarring to look at, granting the Deathless a +5 bonus to any Intimidation rolls they might take. In addition, Intimidate becomes a class skill regardless of form. This is a passive ability and costs no Deathless Points to activate.
